Differences In Skin Care

Hello Beauties

I’m here today to talk about skin care and skin care brands, now many beauty therapists will tell you that you need an expensive salon worthy skin care brand as soon as you hit your twenties. I have been told that also and for a small amount of time I believed what I had been told, yes some products work the best with certain other products from the same brand but the ingredients are all the same.

Do you have to use one brand of skin care? No, you do not. Sure having the same brand products in the bathroom looks amazing but if you don’t see the products working on your skin, and remember everyone has different skin and different needs.

Find a product that works well for your skin and one that you like, stick with it and don’t worry about what the professionals say. Most of the time therapists only say that so clients buy the products that the salon they work in stocks, also if a therapist is pushing you to buy a certain product but you feel like you don’t need it or you already use that product in a different brand, than please don’t allow yourself to say yes.

It doesn’t matter how much or where you buy your skin care from, as long as it works for you and your skin has improved than don’t change it. I have brought cleansers from a cheaper supermarket brand to deal with my acne, and it worked amazingly on my skin and still does. Yet I’ve been taught to only sell the products that are stocked in the salon, the products that are more expensive and are an investment.

Although if you are concerned about aging and want a product that will work, I would suggest going for a more expensive salon brand. But I suggest to only invest in a facial cream, oil or serum, cleansers only clean the skin and are washed off so there isn’t any sense in investing in a wash off product.

I admit I do use the line of products that are stocked where I work, but only so I can get to know each product as I do have to sell the brand to clients. But people who aren’t in the beauty industry don’t need to stick with one brand, try a few and decide for yourself which ones you like and the ones that don’t work well with your skin type.

Keep in mind that the skin is slow when it comes to showing how a products is doing so take your time, there’s no rush in finding the perfect skin care routine and don’t brush off cheaper products as those products may be the one your skin loves.

What skin care products do you love? Have you ever been talked into buying a certain brand before?

Face Of The Day

Hello Beauties

I have decided to share with you all the face makeup that I have been wearing lately, this makeup doesn’t really change that much unless I want to try out new/different products. This is just what’s working well for me at the moment in time, so enjoy.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation in Ecru
I dot this liquid foundation all around my face before I blend with either my Sigma Round Kabuki or my Real Techniques Expert Face brush, I find this foundation to blend easily into the skin. Although this foundation has a reputation of only being full coverage, a small amount goes a long way and can be worn on the sheer side.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer
I use this concealer for any redness or blemishes that I have, or to just give more coverage over any old acne scarring. This concealer is creamy and light so it can be used under the eyes, use concealer after you’d applied foundation.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer
This is the creamy concealer that I use under my eyes to cover the dark circles, this is more pink bases though Maybelline does have other shades in this concealer. But I prefer to use a pink bases concealer as it covers darkness better than just a normal yellow based concealer.

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder
This powder is just amazing at setting foundation and concealer, or just topping up to control shine throughout the day. Everyone says this about this powder but it’s true, it’s so finely milled that no matter how much you apply it doesn’t look cakey. Not to mention this powder is cheaper and easier to find, then other powders I have tried.

Models Prefer Eyebrow Pencil in Light
I have used eyeshadow to fill in my brows for ages now but I wanted to try something different, something that was easier to carry around with me. I didn’t want to spend lots of money on an eyebrow pencil so when I found a good one from Models Prefer, I quickly went to grab it. I don’t change the shape of my brows, I just fill in any sparse spots.

MAC Blush in Well Dressed
I usually change out my blush as I like how easy blush can add to a look, but Well Dressed from MAC is one that I go to the most. I find being so pale it’s sometimes hard for me to pull off bronzer, so I always have to use blush to ass colour to my face. Well Dressed is a light pink that does need to be built up on the cheeks not that I mind though.

Urban Decay Primer Potion
This eyeshadow primer has been the best I’ve tried so far, personally I always need to use a primer otherwise my shadows are going to crease as I have oily eyelids. Using this primer I have found my eye products don’t move until I remove them at the end of the day.

MAC Paint Pot in Painterly
This is another product I use to prime my eyelids before I apply any shadow, it also acts as a skin colour base in case I just want to use eyeliner.

Too Faced Natural Palette
I have found myself reaching for this palette lately as I haven’t really touched it for a while, these shadows are pigmented and smooth. The application is heavenly and a breeze to blend, they don’t crease or move during the day and look just as good at the end of the day. I use Heaven all over the lid and Velvet Revolver through the crease, with Sexspresso along my lash line.

Maybelline The Falsies Flared
I usually apply two coats of this mascara to my top lashes and only a light amount to my bottom lashes, this is volumizing and lengthening on my lashes which I love. I continue going back to this mascara over and over again, it can become slightly clumpy the more coats that are applied.

So that is what is currently on my face most days or the days when I want to spoil myself, I want to hear from you guys. Let me know what products you love to use on a daily/weekly basis.

October Favourites

Hello Beauties

October would have to be my favourite month of the year mainly because it’s my birthday month, though I expect everyone to feel the same about the month they were born in. Although this month did seem to pass me by slightly slower than months before it, which is a change considering how quickly this year has gone by. I don’t have many favourites this month as I haven’t really brought any new products, as I am trying to save my money which I’m good at most of the time.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation in Ecru
This has been my number one foundation for the past year, but I have found myself grabbing this bottle over all the other foundations that I have in my collection. I like how much this foundation covers as I do have acne scarring that I like to cover as much as possible, though this liquid doesn’t feel heavy or thick on my skin. I do have to spend more time blending as this shade is a tad bit darker, which shows just how pale I am. It lasts all day on my oily skin if topped off with a powder, I find I don’t even have to use a primer underneath. If you’re someone with dry skin then this foundation may clung to those dry patches so just moisturize well before applying.

Maybelline The Falsies Flared
I’m not sure what shade this mascara is but it’s the darkest black that they have, this is the best ‘drugstore’ or lower in price mascara that I have ever tried. My lashes are (luckily) naturally on the longer length so I do love to just define that length, which the Falsies Flared does perfectly especially the most coats that I apply. This mascara doesn’t flake or transfer from my bottom lashes onto the skin under my eyes, it can be hard to remove which I just use my facial cleanser at the end of the night.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind in Brightener
This is an under eye concealer (though there is different shades) but because this Brightener shade is pink based it covers the darkness under the eyes amazingly, I have in the past just used normal concealer which I notice doesn’t hide all of the darkness under my eyes. I blend this cream in with my ring finger to make sure it melts into my skin, another normal concealer can be used over the top if the darkness is considerably bad or you just want more coverage. This concealer is light weight which I do set with powder, though keep in mind I do have to powder any product I use under my eyes.

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Translucent
I have heard some many wonderful things about this powder and now that I have it in my hands, I am in love! This powder is so finely milled that no matter how much powder you apply, it never looks thick or cakey which is amazing for me. Because I have oily skin I tend to powder throughout the day so it can’t become cakey on my skin, that just isn’t a good look for anyone.

Models Prefer Eyebrow Pencil in Light
This eyebrow pencil is cheap but it works just as good as more expensive pencils, I’m not sure if Models Prefer is an easy to get a hold of brand or not but it’s easy to find in Australia. I got the shade light as I do have naturally dark brunette hair and I’m pale so I don’t like dark eyebrows on myself, I use this pencil to just fill in my brows as my shape suits my face but I like to just have some definition.

Nars Blush in Deep Throat
Is a warm coral with a hint of pink and a golden shimmer-sheen which just warms up fair skin and would also look stunning on darker/tanned skin, though it’s very easy (and I mean very easy) to overuse this blush. It’s pigmented and soft so it’s easy to use, there is a slight shimmer in the pan but once on the cheeks it comes across as a healthy glow and more of a sheen. On darker skins you may have to apply more for the colour to be noticed.

Revlon Lip Butter in Pink Lemonade
First off I have to say that I love the name Pink Lemonade for a lip product or any product for that matter, this lip butter from Revlon is a new release and has seemed to be slightly different than the first lip butters. The formulation is thinner so it’s not as moisturizing and the pigmentation isn’t the same but saying that I still love this shade. It’s a light pink that would look amazing on anyone, though I do have to apply a lot of product to my lips to get the right colour.

So those are my favourite products for the month of October, let me know what products you have been loving or if you love any of the products I have mentioned because I’d love to hear from you all!
